In-plane magnetic structure and exchange interactions in the high-temperature antiferromagnet Cr2Al

The ordered tetragonal intermetallic Cr$_2$Al forms the same structure type as Mn$_2$Au, and latter has been heavily investigated for its potential in antiferromagnetic spintronics due to degenerate in-plane N\'{e}el vector. We present single crystal flux growth of orientation-dependent magnetic properties. Powder neutron diffraction first-principles simulations reveal that ordering is likely therefore identical providing a second material candidate MoSi$_2$ evaluate fundamental interactions govern spintronic effects. transition seen thermal analysis resistivity indicates no canting moments along $c$ axis likely. Magnetometry, resistivity, differential scanning calorimetry measurements confirm temperature be $634 \pm 2$ K. First-principles indicate system small density states at Fermi energy lowest-energy ground state ordering, while Monte Carlo match experimental temperature.
